History of Il Bulino

Engraving is one of the oldest art forms and the "Trompia Valley" is worldwide recognize as the home of modern engraving. A few years ago,in 2006 Marco Cavazzoni and Cristina Abbiatico, one of the owners of Famars di Abbiatico & Salvinelli that is one of the most famous fine gunmakers in the World, founded  "Accademia Il Bulino." Cristina Abbiatico is famous in the gunbuisness not only because is the President of Famars di Abbiatico & Salvinelli, but also because she is the daughter of Mario Abbiatico who was responsible in the 70ies of the new renaissance of Italian engraving. Il Bulino is the Italian word for the burn in, the hardened steel tool use by the engravers to achieve a unique quality of line that is characterized by its deliberate appearance and clean edges.

The "Accademia Il Bulino" is an engraving school and workshop formed by a group of 7 engravers and 3 master engravers. The apprentices receive a complete knowledge of the different techniques and tools such as burn in, hammer and chisel for a few years. During this time the apprentice reveals his attitude to one of the engraving specialisations and he will be dedicate mostly to it. Accademia Il Bulino express its creativity on firearms, knifes, watches and jewells embellishing them with English rose and scroll, double scroll, ornamental and any kind of scenes including fantasy style, chisel and gold inlays.

Il Bulino is located in the Famars di Abbiatico & Salvinelli building. If you would like to pay us a visit, you could see our artists working and also will be possible to visit Famars and see how a hight grade gun is manufactured.
